The 7th Grade Soaring Eagle News

November 17 – November 21

 

Course II: 

Gill and Williams:  Course II students will begin the unit on decimals by reviewing decimal place value, changing fractions into decimals, and comparing and ordering them.  Look for a quiz before reviewing operations.  

 

Pre-Algebra w/ Wendler and Goeken:  Wendler: We will be finishing unit 5 on ratios and proportions, with a test over it the following week.

Goeken:  We will be finishing Unit 5 over ratios and proportions. The test will be on Friday, November 21st.

 

 

 

Geography w/ Wheeler and Fisher: In Wheeler’s class next week, students will finish up their study of Greece and Italy and begin their study of Spain and Portugal. Students need to bring their materials for their physical map by Monday.  

Fisher:  We will continue the study of Europe with a concentration on the Greek and Roman civilization.

 

Science w/ Donham and Williams: 

In Donham’s classes we will be introduced to Work and Energy.  Students will learn how to calculate work and the unit of Joule.  Next students will study the six major groups of simple machines.

 

Language Arts with Morris, Kraushar, and Fisher:    In Fisher’s and Morris’ classes, students will be working on a Shared Inquiry unit. We will also focus on narrative writing. Don’t forget about our 25 book goal! J

 

Language Arts with Blue:  Students will be taking a district writing assessment this week.  We will also be reading the short story Miriam for a shared inquiry discussion.  Keep reading for the 25 book campaign.

 

 

 

Barclay’s Classes:

Math – Prime Factorization, Greatest Common Factor and Least Common Multiple will be our focus for a week or so.

L.A. – We are beginning a novel study to improve our reading fluency and comprehension skills.
